badminton finals game
- There will only be two courts set up.
- One court will be the 2nd place teams and the other court will be the 1st place teams
- The width of the doubles badminton court will be 20 feet and the length will be 44 feet or 22 feet on each side of the net. The net will be regulation height which will be 5 feet tall.
- Players on the extra team will be seated or standing on one side of the gym (audience on other side of gym)
- There will be 2-4 people (not on any teams that are on the court) in each corner to assist in officiating chosen by teacher.
SCORING (Scoreboards will be used for each game)
All games played to 21. Teams must win by 2 points; otherwise the first team to earn 30 points, wins.
One match = best out of 3 games therefore your team must win 2 games.
Teams will rock paper scissors to choose
- either to serve first or
- to choose the side of the net.
If the birdie hits the line, it is inbounds
If you miss the birdie completely on a serve, the opposite team receives a point (rally scoring). Therefore there will NOT be any second opportunities to serve.
If there are 5 players on your team
- two will play the first game
- two will play the second game
- the 5th player will sub in on the first AND second game after one team scores 10 points.
If there is a third game, it will be ANY two players from the team and two players will sub in when a team scores 10 points
** In case of an emergency and in order to assure there is a winner at the end, time will be kept and whomever has the most points wins the match.
