Strategies for volleyball
There are offensive (when your team has possession of the ball) and defensive (when your team does not have possession of the ball) strategies for volleyball.
OFFENSE
1. Setting
- Setters can set up an outside hitter (left side), middle hitter (middle), or opposite hitter (right side) in the front row
2. Hitting or "Spiking"
- Hitters can hit the ball to an area where there are no players standing
3. Serving
- Servers can hit the ball consistently to an area where there are no players standing
- Skilled servers will use an overhead serve
DEFENSE
1. Blocking
- Front row players can block a hitter's ball when it is hit over the net
- The player that attempts a block must have teammates cover the area behind AND to the side of the blocker
2. Digging
- Players in the back row move to area where ball is expected to hit and face the hitter
